Full Speed Ahead!

This is the battleship USS Nebraska, built by Moran Brothers Shipbuilding in Seattle. The keel was laid in 1902 and the vessel was commissioned in 1907. The photo shows the Nebraska demonstrating compliance with the contract maximum speed of 19 knots.

The house we're staying in belonged to one of the Moran brothers. There are a lot of interesting historical photos here.

Rain prevented us from playing pickleball today, making the courts too slick, but it didn't deter us from pétanque.
