Downtown Santiago

The last 2 days have been spent exploring the city on foot with Jess and Claudio. Yesterday we did a walking tour and explored the local markets around town. Returning to the seafood market for lunch where we ate scallops and 2 different seafood pies, crab and fish, all of it so mouthwatering even though it was our whole daily budget! In the afternoon we went to go up the tallest tower in South America but it was poor visibility so instead we went to the movies and saw The Martian, which  was a great movie.

Today we walked through downtown and saw lots of cool buildings (pictured is the presidential palace). After walking all day we ended up at the Human Rights museum. Over the last 3 days we have come to learn about the human rights violations as a result of a military dictatorship government that occurred in Chile from 1973 till 1990. This museum was a very sad and moving display of Chile and its history.
