Departure
13.4C and cloudy with mist later. Light breeze.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went through to Arbroath before 9am and had our walk round the harbour. The lock gate to the inner harbour was closed so we could walk round in a loop. We walked round to the boatyard. Marigold, the boat which seems to have been being dismantled in the corner of the inner harbour over the last few weeks, was still on the slipway. It looks like the hull is being repainted, so I will be very interested to try and see if restoration work happens over the next few weeks.
Some of the creel boats were out at sea. Two of the day trip boats were tied up. A third, Ardent, had some fishermen on board and the engine was running as they waited for the last of the passengers to board. Maeve and I wandered across the lock gate and then walked round past the lifeboat shed. I wanted to see if I could catch the last of the sunrise colours in the sky beyond the harbour and I managed to catch the departure of Ardent too.
F1 qualifying was interesting after disrupted practise sessions and a big crash for Carlos Sainz. Lewis Hamilton missed out on his 50th pole position ... this time.
Maeve and I went for a walk after lunch. Runrig on the Nano (The Big Wheel). Just a 2 mile loop down to the shore road and round the main road and back home.
World Cup rugby union on the telly this afternoon. Scotland v Samoa 33 Scotland 36 ... what a game !
I expect Scotland will not progress past next week's quarter final though.
Up next Wales v Australia ...
