Tractors
12.7C with sunshine all day long. Zephyr.
Maeve the Deerhound and I went for a walk after lunch. We went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. In the field just past the church the tractor that was being used in the cauliflower harvest was there, but there was no sign of a driver or of a picking crew. In the distance I could see a tractor in a field on Craigmill farm. As we reached the farm I could see the tractor coming nearer in the field across the road from the farm that had potatoes harvested recently. Looked like some sort of harrow was being towed to break up the ground.
We turned right at Craigmill farm and went down the track to the shore road. We crossed over and went down the little private road and over the level crossing on the Easthaven side of the burn. I had hoped it would be easy to cross the burn since we have had some dry days but the burn itself was deep and plenty of water was running out over the area where is spreads out as it crosses the beach. I managed to find a shallow enough part and Maeve waded across beside me. The beach had a lot of bigger stones on it today. The tide was about halfway in. No sign of any of the Westhaven boats in the water. More creels were stacked near the fishermen's huts. I found three pieces of pottery as we walked along.
We came back along East Row then crossed back by the road bridge over the railway then carried on round in a long loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home.
