The Ladybirds who came in from the Cold!
This cluster of hibernating ladybirds has taken up residence in a window corner with more arriving each day, but worryingly it looks like a spider is busy weaving a web over them. Can you see its' shadow on the ceiling? I'm sure they will be more than a match for the spider!
Breaking news: Just consulted an expert site and I need to take them back outside or the central heating will wake them up during the winter when there are no aphids for them to eat. Apparently you use a soft paintbrush to brush them in to a container and then put them somewhere safe from predators. The site also has instructions for making an insect house out of a drinks bottle!
