Walhalla
There are many mad things to see in Germany. Walhalla can be counted amongst them. It was commissioned by Ludwig I around 1807 (not mad Ludwig II who commissioned Neuschwanstein) and was intended as a memorial to the great & good Germans.
It is an astonishing piece of architecture. As you walk towards the front of the building (and the only way in), you get the feeling that you are standing on the edge of the world. There is an edge and then nothing.
If you are not comfortable with heights, it's not an easy walk to the end of the world.
And inside... this is but one picture and it doesn't do it justice.
And it fits for today as a memorial picture. My mother died 2 years ago today. Not forgotten and remembered with a glass of Bavarian Bubbles.
