M'Dina
SWMBO and I went and spent the day at M'Dina (pronounced Im-deena) - a fortified town on top of the highest hill in Malta....... a lovely place.
This meant getting 2 buses to get there and back again.
The public transport system here is amazing - Euro 1.50 will give you 2 hours of changing buses .... any bus .... any number of buses. That means you could get from one end of the island to the other, change buses and get back to your start point.
However, what it doesn't take into consideration is when a bus becomes too full to take the entire queue, leaves some of the passengers who stand and wait the 30+ minutes for the next bus which then drives past the stop, stops 50 yards down the road and takes on all the passengers except those who had been unable to get on the previous one!!!!!
That situation caused a near riot and the driver changed her mind when it was pointed it was her incompetence and that like it or like it not those people were getting on!
Tonight we got 50% off our meal bill due to a cock up with the service last night which resulted in an hour and a half wait to be served. Not bad considering we had a (fairly expensive) bottle of wine with our meal tonight which we didn't yesterday.
Additional pictures of the holiday are still being added
