Cat Bells
Today is the 18th anniversary of my 18th birthday!
It was a good day to spend the anniversary of my arrival here on Earth. To be up in the summit of Cat Bells (where we are sitting is not the summit, the peak behind us is the summit). We were accompanied by several walkers/climbers and so didnt find it hard to navigate to the top of Cat Bells. An interesting experience was the many times that i thought that we were already about to reach the summit only to find out that there is another hill steeper to climb up ahead. There were a lot of scrambling but there were more horizontal walks as well. This is definitely an easier climb than Helvelyn (or at least half of Helvelyn) where i had to scramble all throughout the walk. There were more older people in the trail. There was even this old lady who braved the peak wearing a pair of Converse shoes. Dogs didnt have a hard time climbing the many steep parts of the hill.
I didnt inform Desi that it was my birthday until we started climbing down the hill. She was surprised and this lead to me getting a free scone and a pot of chamomile tea from the nearby fancy hotel called Lodore Hotel. Scone with butter and cream is the best!
And we also took the boat that runs around Derwentwater to get to the starting trail of Cat Bells. It was a good choice since (a) it was cheaper than the bus, and (b) we got to cruise the lake for a few minutes.
Extra Photos: Desi and I on a jetty near our hostel waiting for the ferry.
