That End Of Year Feeling
Clocks went back and I'm sitting here in pitch black and it's not even anywhere near 6.
I almost resent being locked into this it-feels-almost-eternal-Dämmerung.* You know, get up in the dark, got to work in the dark, come home in the dark. I much prefer the light.
Today's Blip is across the neighbouring vineyards and I like the fact that some varieties of vines go red as they lose their summer colour.
*German word that fits for dawn and dusk. You've probably seen the word used in association with Richard Wagner and his Götterdämmerung.
Anyone who perseveres with the link, well done. It's over 4 hours long.
Oh and as a bit of a throwaway. There is an annual Wagner festival at Bayreuth. As a kid, I'd never heard of Bayreuth in Germany. I had, however, heard of Beirut. And they are pronounced pretty similarly. I had no idea why there should be a Wagner festival in the Lebanon, and I couldn't square it with all the "tensions" in the Middle East, but then again, I was prepared to accept that people were sometimes weird.
