Sunset shore

We were still walking along the shore road this afternoon as the sun set; by the time we reached the car it was almost dark. I've never really looked at this little beach as a subject for a photo, but in the light of the amazing sky it looked interesting and appealing. I was experimenting with ProHDR again; the sky really did look like this, and there's more detail on the dark beach than I would have captured without it.

We were as late as this because of meeting people: on a walk where we might speak to one habitual dog-walker we met said dog-walker, yes, but also an old friend we haven't seen for months, necessitating a long chat. We had just started walking briskly in the sudden cool of the sun's disappearance when we were hailed by three strangers in a car, wanting to know where "that road" led to. They pointed to the continuation of the shore road, which leads along Loch Striven to a dead end. They had thought they were driving home to Glasgow; they had taken a wrong turning at Morrison's in Dunoon ...

Fifteen minutes later we were just past this beach when another friend hailed us from his car. We restricted that conversation to five minutes. Nothing like a quiet country walk for meeting folk!
