A trip to Chania
Day Four
Today is a public holiday in Crete in commeration of “the day the people said No to Italy and they were invaded by the Germans in WW11” explanation given by the staff on reception at the hotel.
We got the local coastal bus in to Chania. A 30 minute trip with lots to see, for the grand price of 2.60 euro each way, a bargain!! We were in time to see the parade, some national dancing, a synagogue and the sea water being swept up on the harbour roads and washing through the outdoor areas of the cafes. We tried a coffee, which just about blew our brains out, so followed up with a bottled beer, you know what you are getting with that!!
The bus inwards was almost empty, but on the return journey about 3 pm it was full.
A rest before dinner, no gym today as we have done our quota of exercise.
