Cape Gooseberry

Much of the day was spent at Froglife networking event, which included a buffet lunch and a rather muddy walk round the pond restoration project that they've been undertaking at The Boardwalks LNR. On one of the disturbed pond margins we found a very happy looking plant of Cape Gooseberry Physalis peruviana, in full flower. It's presumably bird sown or the result of a picnic, but doesn't seem to have been recorded in the area previously and is therefore a new Vice-county Record. What a surprise!
