Long walk through the big trees
So obviously I was up a little late last night, wasnt packed and had no food for the trip - with three 3.5 hours sleep, i clawed up out of bed dressed packed and went shopping at the irving - $30 for some beef jerky, water, coffee and cheese nibbles
thankfully greg did the driving out to keji
started from the big dam parking lot at 7:30 a.m. with november sun slanting through the giant hemlocks
it was an amazing day walking through the beautiful late falll woods all day,
out to Thomas Brook at the end of Big Dam and over to Frozen O - where we saw a fungus as big as a turkey platter -
at Still Brook we had to summon the courage to wade over the cold water - i got my boots wet, greg went barefoot
the longest part of the hike for sure was the leg south to Channel Lake - we stopped more and more often to eat and rest and chug coffee
disappointed we didnt make the detour to Channel Lake itself for a look but neither of us had much energy - and time was fading quickly
the whole hike was consistently beautiful and wonderful - exhausted by the end - took us 9 hours to cover the 25k
we talked a lot about whether we can bring our group on this hike - i say yes - we might have a very small number of hikers but those who do it will enjoy it im sure
all in all we didnt talk that much - most of the time we walked alone in meditative silence - it was fantastic
