Look Inside
If the eyes are the window to a person's soul, I wonder what a philosopher would say happens when the inquisitive viewer scrapes away the grime from the windows of an abandoned home, peering through the dirt and detrius into long-forgotten memories. Are the bleakest, darkest and most eerie moments in the lives of foregone generations burned deep into the soul of the unsuspecting viewer?
Probably not.
This is one of the buildings at Scotsdale Farm, just outside Georgetown, bequeathed to the Ontario Conservation Foundation in 1982. The farm's buildings have been used in many Hollywood movies and TV shows, but the atmosphere has recently been eroded by the erection of clumsy signs suggesting that visitors should keep their distance. Not that anyone takes any notice, there's no one there to stop them - apart from ghosts, that is.
