List completed! All ready. I think...
I was up and about in my jammies and dressing gown and had dusted every ledge, picture frame, mirror and mantlepiece before 8am. I even hoovered the toaster. Am I going mad?
I cleaned kitchen floor. This floor was not one of my best DIY jobs. Come to think of it, I can't think what my best DIY job was. I laid the lino tiles. But accidentally left a few teensy wee specks of something underneath when I glued them down. So now, in certain light - like when you're standing back admiring how clean it is - they stick up like wee plukes* on a beautiful clear skin. Most annoying.
The mouse traps have been put away in the cupboard. The neighbours will casually mention the m word when the Aussies arrive. I'm sure they have worse than wee mice in their houses at times. Or was the mouse a figment of my imagination?
The early sun had changed to rain and was back to sunshine again. So a quick promenade with my macro (that sounds so good!) was in order. (By this time I was not in my jammies - no, I was fully dressed!) It took me about an hour to go down one side of the street and back up the other. I LOVE downloading them on the computer! It's so exciting, seeing wee bugs that you hadn't spotted at the time, and seeing the beauty of the tiny bits of flowers that I, for one, had never stopped to notice before. Even once I've deleted all the out of focus ones, it's so hard to choose...
I saw a very handsome snail on the pavement (and that's not a sentence I would have said pre-blip!). I've seen lovely blips of snails...
I studied him. Could I get down to his level? Yes. On the wet pavement? Well, for a blip, yes. But could I get up again unaided? No. So the snail went on his merry way, oblivious of his brush with possible fame.
As a reward for my early morning dusting, and because the sun was out and the hooligans were still trapped having their citizenship lessons, I got a Magnum Classic.
There were hoards of young men in kilts (three, actually, but they're so BIG). More graduations today. And very polite they were too.
Not sure if they're the same young men I sometimes see (and hear) wending their way home of an evening early morning, but my theory that a uniform induces good manners bears up. They were on their best behaviour in their formal gear. I think this is true of high schools. Make them wear a uniform and enforce that, and other undesirable behaviour is less prevalent. That's my theory.
I don't count lads in kilts at football/rugby matches, although that's a uniform too.
You can sense I'm waffling. Even more so than usual.
Car cleaned this afternoon by a man who is coming to the house. Well - the road. Tennis on. Relax. I'm sure there's nothing else I needed to do... It's just a matter of waiting. And I'll be doing plenty of that in Dubai.
* Scottish word meaning pimple, spot or zit
PS off in a plane for an eternity. May have to back blip. Commenting may be curtailed.
