Nowadays, he worked behind the scenes with only the occasional press launch for a new production to offer any evidence that he was still alive - standing behind the director and the star, moving out of shot when asked.

But, as he walked across the darkened stage, someone threw a switch and the feature spot lit up, catching him squarely in its beam. The warmth of the light on his face and the smell of the hot electrics took him right back. Just for a second.
