But I don't get what this society wants

ABC of Troon

E is for .... and this is going to surprise some of you who live in Troon;

East Union Street.

Union Street is a little street off a main street in town; it it home to the Church of the Nazarene, a building which I have never, ever been in, nor know very much about, a workshop for the rather lovely J T Youngs Furnishing and Fabrics.

And that is Union Street; at the end of Union Street is a Garage, or perhaps the remains of a garage. It used to be McAleese, no - It is still McAleese; it is just that, the entrance has moved round into Dukes Road - which used to be a field.  (I'm using Google maps to check)

In Union Street Lane, there are a number of Industrial Units, one of which is beautifully tended by the Lovely Mo, performing all sorts of miracles with engines. :-)

East Union Street, more familiarly known to me as "Union Street, is residential.  Or was....Looking down the street, there is an industrial Unit where the council refuse lorries park of an evening.   At the very bottom of the street, on the left hand side, just before the railing, is Brocklebank the Builder.  And half way up... and I'm sure that wasn't there before is a Carpet outfitter!

I will admit that as I visited down here, I was quite surprised  - it's been a long time since I've been down here.   Being as it was a dead end in it's time, it wasn't really somewhere we ventured as kids.

Now - the bottom right opens out into "Princes Square", another place I have never been - it's a residential complex ... I'm not sure if it is for senior citizens or other.... isn't that awful!

I did visit in my later teens - my mates brother had his first flat here - and I sat and gazed at it - it definitely got smaller as the years passed, and an ex boyfriend lived across the road.

I had forgotten until I looked at it again, now, that my friend lived here too for a short period of time, after her wedding, and before she moved to Edinburgh;  I remember visiting when her baby was almost a year old.

That is so strange - I had completely lost that over time -it was only looking down the street and thinking about it I remembered.  I wasn't living in Troon at the time, so perhaps that is why it slipped from my mind.

How funny - this little ABC Tour of the Town is refreshing memories in my mind that had disappeared over the years.
