We calculated today that it's over 10 years since this Xanthorrhoea (commonly known in Australia as "Grass Trees") has flowered. Almost overnight the three metre flower appeared. Eighteen months after the fires went through Wombat Hollow we experienced the most amazing display of Xanthorrhoea flowers, it usually takes a fire to make this happen in such profusion.
They are fascinating plants and I plan to take a macro shot of the flowers on the stem on Tuesday for Tiny Tuesday.
