Down to the pub

Weather was bad to-day, dull and cool, so we went down to the pub... for a coffee of course.
The local is 'Charlie's' full of photos and figurines of Charlie Chaplin, but all with the feel of a British pub. After 4.00pm they put out little notices in two languages 'Service a l'anglaise' /'English Service', which explain you have to go to the bar to be served rather than expecting a waiter to come round and take your order. No-one seems to mind and they do a good trade. Even in the depths of winter people sit around outside having a smoke with their drink as it's smoke free inside, a law which seems to be obeyed 100%, quite unusual in France.
