Guitar Man
It's amazing the people you meet in the street. Jools and I were taking pictures of a quaint old railway bridge in Old Georgetown (Canada Day, everything closed, so what else is there to do?) when a resident started a conversation.
"The noise from the trains must be hell", I said as a massive goods train roared over the single lane bridge 50 yards from his front door. "Nope", he replied, "I've got a recording studio upstairs and the worst disturbance is kids walking past with their music full blast".
Meet Garry Fizell, 71, a bluegrass guitarist with the band Mountain Myst. Recent gigs have taken him to Canada's West Coast and Seattle. His pride and joy is a 1934 Dobro, which never leaves his studio. I have a blues guitarist pal in London, UK, who'd kill to own that - but I won't be passing on Garry's address. Accessory before the fact and all that . . .
