Pacific Sunset

Our “Island Bure with an Ocean View” is quiet and relatively secluded, being at the furthest point of the Resort and well away from the restaurants and holidaying Australian families. So quiet and dark and cool that we almost missed breakfast. It was raining in the morning and we took the opportunity to catch up on the novels we had brought and had promised ourselves we would read. The rain was wet, yes, but warm and welcoming. By the time we had our seafood Pizzas for lunch, the tide was low and we were ready to walk around the island. It didn’t seem as straightforward as we had been led to believe and the beach wasn’t fully exposed below the rocks which were a bit treacherous in the wet. Then we remembered that this wasn’t Scotland, and you simply had to wade through the warm clear water of the incoming tide. This technique would make getting out to Sandaig islands a doddle if the temperatures were similar.

The walk took a couple of interesting hours and by the end we knew the island pretty well. Slarty Bartfast had done a good job of the coastline but he did find the vast expanses of Pacific Ocean a bit boring and knew more was needed so he threw in beautiful sunsets most evenings stretching from horizon to horizon. Not as beautiful as the Norwegian coastline perhaps but still some of his better work.
