iPad in Paradise

Oregon has the only really fabulous weather in the USA right now, unless you count Hawai'i. My brother, who is deeply involved in his business ventures, laments his addiction to his iPad but takes it with him everywhere.

We've had a fine visit. He has spent time with my son, has explored possible new business ventures in Portland, has been to an Occupy Portland protest, and we've talked for hours and hours. He finds Portland a city whose quirkiness exceeds anything he has seen before. We stood in a queue for ice cream for an hour and a half last night at Salt & Straw, the famous ice cream place, where we ordered four wonderfully strange flavors, including Wild-Marionberry-and-Goat-Cheese-with- Habanero-Jam and Blueberry-Key-Lime-Marmalade. While we were waiting, two people passed by on unicycles, a banjo player was busking across the street, and a couple strolled by dressed for church in 1830.

This picture was made at Ecola State Park, overlooking Cannon Beach and the famous Haystack Rock.
