Ghent

It rained all day, which was a bit of a shame for our day trip to Ghent. It's only 20 minutes from Bruges and a bigger university town. The 'must do' is to go and see the Ghent Alterpiece, which we did. Tick. We had a quick lunch before G had to leave us to get back to he station for his return train as he has to go to work tomorrow. Mum and I continued holidaying by eating some more chocolates and taking a canal trip through the old town. When we came ashore, we desperately needed a hot chocolate, but somehow couldn't find one at the market, so decided to head back to good old Bruges. Temptation was too much and we had a waffle along with our hot chocolate before heading to our hotel and warming up before heading out to dinner. Mum was uncharacteristically adventurous and had a local stew dish, after which we had a final wander and visit to the market for the last Gluhwein and watched the skaters. Everything is so pretty lit up at night- it really has been the perfect time to visit.
