Today's the day ......................... to come out the other side

I think that today is the shortest day - which means that from now on the hours of daylight will gradually increase.

This was taken at 3.55 pm this afternoon and you can see that it's beginning to get dark - in spite of the fact that incredibly, the sky is clear.  That's the moon up there, by the way.  The rain lashed down all morning with the sort of miserable weather that we have come to expect round here this winter.  If you are someone who has had their house flooded, you must dread the sound of heavy rain.

December 2015 will be remembered for a long time in Kendal.  But let's hope there's a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel with the lengthening of the days - and that we're coming out the other side at last ........................
