Diary of an Edinburgher

More coffee, more culture!

More culture today - coffee culture AND culture culture! Into town on the ferry, and popped into the MCA, which is right on the waterfront. The cafe has an amazing view of the harbour, of course. Wonderful artwork, some of it a bit weird, but all of it interesting.

G was having a photo-shoot at her house. Actually, I thought afterwards it would have been really good to see how a professional photographer worked... Never mind, will see the results in a magazine soon.

Did I say I'd been to the best cafe yesterday? That was yesterday. Today we went to the best cafe! It's called 'The Grounds' for all you Sydneysider blippers. It's in Alexandria. No idea where, G drove us. It was a big old warehouse type development, the kind the Aussies do really well. Great sound system, and no Whitney Houston screechy twangy rubbish- really good music that didn't drown us out. The best coffee so far, and the best muffins.

The coffee took slightly long, and the waitress came to apologise, and blamed it on the 'barrister' (barista - it was just her accent, she knew what he was).

Then the barista came to apologise, his name was Nick and he stayed and chatted for ages. He was very proud of the coffee machine which had been made especially for them. They've only been open a couple of months, but if I lived here I'd be in every day. Great menu, great coffee, great ambience, great staff... They gave us a muffin to take home, too. Very good PR!

On the way home from the ferry every time, we walk through a wee park which is popular with dog owners. Every time we've stopped to admire the dogs and chat to owners. Today there were several dogs with one young woman who also had a big camera. She was taking action shots of them running around, so I asked if I could join in (taking action shots- not running around!).

I had so much trouble choosing a blip today. I tried not to take more photos on the ferry, but there was a rainbow over the Opera House!! I took another 100 photos!

I cheated a bit and chose three. The dogs, Nick the barrister, and an Aborigine chap sitting down at the wharf.

Off out for dinner, and then might be allowed to watch the State of Origin rugby tonight! Sorry, no time for commenting!
