Velvet Shank

Truly gut wrenching moment today when I realised that rushing to do too many things mid flooding crisis I'd given friends the wrong keys to the apartment! Three awful hours later we had it resolved - & they're in, heating on & wine open - but not a great way to spend the day - many lessons about system redundancies learnt!

In better news the fibre broadband was activated today, sat here now with 39.5Mb/s - twenty times faster than it used to be - the countryside (well this part of it) - just joined the 21st century!

For Tiny Tuesday I'm going with these gloriously coloured little Velvet Shanks  - highly prized for the culinary properties of the caps - but after finding the supposedly delicious Larch Bolletes "vile" Mrs IttH is less than keen to try them. Interestingly these are reputed to have exceptional anti-cancer properties - they're farmed in Japan (where they're known as Enokitake) and the farmers  have been found to have some of the lowest cancer rates in the world.
