Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2016 Sunday -- Cayucos Pier

The threat of rain turned into an empty promise, but the day was gorgeous, so we took a drive north to Cambria and then a few miles further to San Simeon Bay.

It was fairly cold and windy, so walking on the beach was not very appealing. Mr. Fun was brave and took the three pups for a walk along the shore, a short walk, but certainly better than what I was going to do.

A small male elephant seal (his weight is only 800 pounds) was snoozing on the beach at San Simeon and volunteers from Friends of the Elephant Seal organization were watching the area so that tourists would not attempt to approach. Just a few miles north is a large elephant seal rookery that boasts a population of 17,000 elephant seals, with the largest population happening in late January every year.

Mr. Fun walked the pups far from the stranger on the shore and soon was back at the car. We then drove back to Cayucos with a quick stop to see the high tide and fishermen at the shoreline.

This has been a very relaxed and lovely Sunday,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
