Admin tasks, Cafe Colombo and a walk round Saara

Both Bb and I have blipped Cafe Colombo before, but who can resist such a  setting?   See my extra shots today if you want to see the beautiful ceiling and the upstairs level, where the restaurant is, as well as a shot of a church we popped into while wandering around downtown.

We had a day of admin tasks today which took us into the commercial centre of Rio.  First, we had a visit to the lady who holds our power of attorney here;  then to the centre to pay our condominium charges; then a lunch stop at Cafe Colombo.  We had to queue, but only had to wait for 10 minutes.  From our table we were able to see others wait for 45 mins for the pleasure of a table.   I always remember the first time I was brought to this cafe and it was when I ran a course here for Cultura Inglesa in January 2008 and then I introduced Bb to it.  We then had a long, hot walk through the bustling, narrow streets of the Saara area, where you can buy literally anything from a pencil sharpener to a sofa to a bikini to anything you'd ever need to fit into Carnaval here.  I only bought two dresses - one for myself and one for the 6 month old baby of our head doorman of our condominium.  We were weary by then and taxi-ed it back to Copacabana (10/15 min ride) to rest our legs and have an early dinner at the Siqueira Grill buffet and our first visit to it on this trip - excellent selection of just about everything, including a grill for 'live cooking' and a sushi section.  It's a 'por kilo' place and we always have a bit of fun when we compare the weights of our respective plates and courses.   An enjoyable productive day and good to get those admin tasks under our belt.   Just for the record, my foot was really quite sore today - perhaps I've been walking a bit too much recently and pushing it.  A quieter, less on-our-feet day is planned for tomorrow anyway, as we both need to do some work in the flat to prepare for starting work properly again.
