Big Sky
Today was such a sunny day!! After getting back from church Dolly and I spent much of the afternoon in the conservatory which is a wonderful place to be on a sunny winter's day. I was tempted to take Dolly for a walk in the early afternoon but I decided it might be a nice sunset - just enough clouds around.
With all the rain we've been having it's a challenge to find a place to walk that's not too wet and muddy for Dolly. Thankfully there are some fields nearby with a paved track going through the middle which is a good option in the winter. There is a wide and almost uninterrupted horizon over this flat area of land. It's the closest to reminding me of the 'big skies' of Colorado where I used to live - except the sunset was always over the Rocky Mountains. But everywhere else was a vast and wide and flat horizon.
One thing I love about sunsets is that the sky is sometimes equally beautiful looking east as it is looking west. Tonight was no exception. Hence my collage of two panoramic shots.
Poor Dolly - she was cold and didn't like stopping for me to take so many pictures. But towards the end we met a local farmer with a collie and Dolly went nuts playing with him. That warmed her up a bit! She loves collies! His name is Herne and he's just 11 months old. See the extra photo.
