Forest interlude

Just an interval of sunshine today, but what a difference it made to the outlook of the New Forest. Even the grazing Forest ponies seemed to welcome the change in the weather.
Here in the quaintly named village of Nomansland even the grass and Heath areas had dried out somewhat since my last drive through the National Park earlier in the week.
But it was also a great deal colder. When I last checked the outside temperature this evening it was hovering around the zero mark. While a few degrees above that earlier in the day when the sun was out, there was still a substantial chill factor and with the forecasters warning of a cold spell over the next few days I suppose we can be grateful that winter months so far have been relatively warm
Not sure I would have thought quite the same last weekend when the boiler obstinately refused to fire up to give us either heating or hot water.
But that's another story! Today it was refreshing to enjoy a little winter sunshine along with the a forest ponies.
