That Will Do!

High Water

It must have rained heavily all night as the tadpools needed to be baled out yet again.

There were reports of road closures in town so we checked on the Braid Burn downstream, in Mid Liberton, where some time ago Mr Flum was involved in preparation prior to flood-prevention work. So far, so good, but the burn is almost to the top of the bridge.

We then checked out the Water Of Leith at Warriston and Canonmills, where flood prevention is in progress, (though the temporary barriers leaked) then along from Stockbridge to Dean Village, and, although it was clear that level of the toffee-coloured water had begun to recede, it was still very much in spate, boiling under the Dean Bridge and tumbling down the walkway by the weir.

The Braid Burn upstream at Redford was still running very high but the flood prevention working well, as it was at Oxgangs.

We seem to be more fortunate than many places but it appears that the prevention schemes will be of great benefit - once they're finished.
