On Your Marks...
After taking a break from the Scone holiday club yesterday, I returned for the final day of On Your Marks. It was great to see how well the children had picked up the theme song since Monday and how enthusiastic their actions were.
All week we have been telling them about Jesus and what it's like being on his team. He calls each one of us to be on his team - just like he called Peter, James, John and Andrew when they were out fishing. We also told them about the things he did on earth like healing Bartimaeus' blindness and the transfiguration. Most importantly we wanted to get across who we believe he is: the Messiah, the chosen one, special. Our verse to remember for the week was Mark 8:29:
"Jesus asked his disciples, 'Who do you say I am?'. Peter replied, 'You are the Messiah."
It's the team's prayer that as well as the messy games, drama and silliness and fun of the week, they will also remember some of what we told them about Jesus and how he cares for each one of them.
We were very pleased that most of the children still came to the club today, even though the Queen was visiting Perth. Afterwards the team cleaned the hall and went our separate ways. Some of us will be taking part in New Scone's service on Sunday to give the congregation a taster of what happened in their church hall during the week.
