Pavement parking (or sidewalk parking)

One of our (many) beefs is unthinking motorists who park on pavements, in order, I presume to minimise the impact on fellow car drivers. This is a particularly thoughless example where the car is not only parked on the pavement it is also on double yellow lines as well. In addition their wing mirror is left poking out too, reducing the width of available pavement even further. When I see this I'm tempted to climb up the back of the car, over the roof and down the bonnet.

Our village roads are narrow and there are precious few pavements but many are obstructed leaving the less able bodied, the poorly sighted, mothers with pushchairs and young children with a significant problem. I raised the issue at a community meeting some years ago but the authorities were not interested. The problem is, of course, there are too many cars and they dominate our landscape and environment with impunity.

I'm a car owner too but a walker, runner and cyclist. By doing more of the latter activities you begin to appreciate the predicament of those not in a car and try to be more considerate of their needs.

OK, rant over, until the next one. I should be auditioned for the series Grumpy Old Men which was very popular for a while. Apart from that, the day was very productive. Lots of "just jobs" completed as well as a bit of work and I successfully made a litre or so of turkey stock for the freezer.
