Urban Walkabout
Thought I would go walkabout today and take in some sightseeing . . . that’s until the heavens opened again.
Fortunately, there were not just one, but two indoor shopping malls to explore. But then again, there is only a certain amount of time you can spend walking the length of a shopping mall, even with the choice of two and only yards separating the entrances to both.
Okay, I guess it did give me some walking exercise, although not quite what I intended. It’s probably a couple of years since I’ve had chance to explore this town, and even then I didn’t have opportunity to do it properly.
So today I was determined. I didn’t even take the car, but chose to go by train with the thought that time as my own and I would not be bound by a parking restriction .
The best laid plans, as they say. I took one look at the very damp High Street, and realised the entrance to the station was between me and where I was intending to stroll.
So I am afraid that both my walking and sightseeing were curtailed. With trains scheduled every ten minutes, the decision was easy.
Next time, perhaps ?
