Early blossom
Well, I know it has been a pretty mild winter, but I certainly didn't expect to see blossom on the trees quite as early as this.
Yes, I know that daffodils are out, along with snowdrops and crocus - all convincing signs that Spring, if not quite here, is well on the way.
But here we are with roadside trees in full blossom and it's not yet mid-February. The weather in the past few days may have been a bit fierce thanks to the storms currently sweeping in, yet the over-riding climate is still a lot warmer than we usually experience this time of year.
I keep my fingers crossed that we are in for some splendid months ahead and a glorious summer to come, but we know that there is no guarantee of that despite this promising start to the year.
Admittedly my enthusiasm for the relatively mild temperature just now was slightly tempered today when we heard that in the south of France our daughter was basking in sunshine and temperatures almost twice what they were in London.
Still, the blossom today is sufficient to give me a glow. Well, of sorts!
