Today's the day ............................ to catch a wave

The beaches in this part of Portugal are simply outstanding.

Mile upon mile of clean, sandy shore with just the right amount of amenities - and the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean to complete the scene.  Today, the surf at Vilamoura Beach was not for the faint-hearted.  The Atlantic breakers were crashing in and there were quite a few bobbing heads out to sea with their surf boards, waiting for that extra big one.

More often than not, the waves just swallowed them up and disdainfully spat them out - but now and then, someone managed to tame one for a few seconds and a ride into shore ..........................
