Today's the day ............................ for an expert

This is Dave - one of my fellow volunteers at the Carnforth Station Heritage Centre this afternoon.

I always like it when I'm on duty with him because he's a mine of information of absolutely anything to do with trains.  He worked man and boy on the railways - he was a signalman.  Today he brought in his laptop and he was showing me a particular piece of software that enables him to see the layout of the track in any station.  So that includes all the sidings and shunting loops that you wouldn't see as a passenger.  He can press a few buttons and see which trains are expected when - and in what direction. 

No wonder he's smiling ...........................
