Jessie

This is my great grandmother.   Jessie Hyslop Smith was born on August 15, 1865, in Penpont, Dumfries-shire, the child of John and Henrietta. She married James on December 22, 1887, in Durisdeer, Dumfries-shire. They had five children in 15 years. She died on March 20, 1906, at the age of 40.


Now, I know all this because my mother wrote the name on the back of the photo.    There are an awful lot of photos here from the same generation with not a clue as to who they are.


Family research is slow work - but quite fun.
