I'm not going to go on....

....bothering you with the pictures from the family archives.   But it is pouring outside still, and I am doing little else but gentle research.

This is one of those photos with no name.    The geography and the style strongly suggests that this is my great, great grandmother, Elizabeth Nelson Ross.  (1838-1904).    The photograph is by Albert Cuyp Malkin studio in Chester - and the studio dates were 1839-1920.   So that fits.

Elizabeth's father was born to a sergeant serving in the 103rd Regiment of Foot in Quebec during the 1812 War.   Later he was the Engineer at the Railway Station at Muirkirk in Ayrshire.  There Elizabeth married John Rae who was a Marine Engineer and they moved to Liverpool.  They had five children in 13 years. She died on December 18, 1904, at the age of 66.

I do want this picture to be of Elizabeth!
