.....China in your hand.......

The last two groups of pupils completed the Olympic theme project today......Australia and China.

This morning's group produced lots of Koalas, Kangaroos and Opera Houses...lots of red, white and blue and yellow and green icing got used.

This afternoon produced what I think are the best cakes of the week........dragons, bowls of noodles, Chinese characters and yin and yang symbols.

We now have 17 finalists, a minimum of three from each group, from which the winning three designs will be chosen......all the other cakes will be sold at break.

hebs and the Head will have a difficult choice to select the best three.

It's been a hectic, tiring, high pressure three days....but Jo and I make one hell of a team.....power point presentation of the five countries and the methods of baking and decorating.........plus suitable music for the Olympics and each country........three days, five lessons a day, more than 100 pupils in total........over 400 cakes mixed and baked......designs drawn........icing and decoration completed.....500 photographs edited down to 135........plus all the tidying up, washing up and boxing up of all the cakes........as well as teaching each group something about the countries they were representing...and every pupil has thrown themselves into the task and produced some really good cakes....and they have all appreciated that two different teachers of two different subjects can work together and step out of their comfort zone.

So....I'm pooped....I've been whacked with a baking tray.......I've mixed....cut out icing....drawn designs of pandas, roos, koalas, Big Ben, Sydney Opera House, elephants,London buses....come home with aching legs and feet every day....and I'd do it all again.....but not until next year!

In other news :
the Boss picked up her new car today, a Kia Picanto with all the bells and whistles, exactly the same as the Daughter's, except in red.

the guys fitting the frame and glass for the conservatory phoned to say that due to the weather they were behind on another job and couldn't get to us until this afternoon!.......but would we mind if they worked Saturday to make up the time so they could finish on time by Tuesday! (Bathroom fitters take note!)

no quiz tonight...the Boss is at work...D and V are exhausted after a day with the grand children...and if I'm honest so am I.

big party tomorrow evening...until 1.00 in the morning...it could get messy.

Das vidanya moy padruga.
