Fallen Trees

The shapes are grotesque, yet fallen trees add a dimension to everything which goes to make up the New Forest.
Nevertheless I am always wary about driving on any of the Forest roads either in the rain or in high winds.
This one was off the road, but only by yards, and look around you and you’ll find plenty of evidence of trees and boughs which have become victim of the winds and crashed down.
There is a blanket speed limit of 40 mph on all open Forest roads so you are not likely to run into anything at speed. But when a tree does become victim of the weather, there is little if any warning that it’s about to fall, and if you are unfortunate enough to be in its path, it doesn’t really matter whether you are doing 40 or much less. A falling tree will do a lot of damage if you are in its path, maybe even be lethal.

Nevertheless it is scenes like this which all go to make up the  beauty of the Forest.
