Panopticon Trail

Saturday 12th March 2016 (1295)

After breakfast Huddsbird and I did a bit of planning and then set off on our trail of discovery to find the four Lancashire panopticons.

We started at Colourfields in Blackburn. To say we were underwhelmed would be an understatement! Our next stop was the Halo at Hazlingden. After climbing the steep hill we found the halo and also did a bit of geocaching, setting our joint Physivic trackable on its journey.

Refreshments then called and we enjoyed a very special and naughty treat in Dearden's vintage cafe.

Next on the trail was the Singing Ringing Tree (above) near Burnley. It is set in a wonderful location on top of the hill with some beautiful views across the valley, unless it is a day like today when the mist obliterates everything! The wind blowing through the pipes enables the sculpture to "sing" although someone else said that today it was more like the moaning, groaning tree.

Final stop was Wycoller Country Park to see the atom and find another geocache. It will be worth visiting the last two sculptures again on a better day.

Back home for an evening meal and then we both had a bit of work to do.
