Tiny Tuesday - Tiny Blossom

I noticed that the wind had dropped early this morning so thought it would be perfect conditions to get this blossom shot for the challenge today. Of course when I got to it there was a slight breeze, but nothing like last week thank goodness. I'm pretty sure it's Blackthorn blossom, which unlike Hawthorn, has flowers before leaves.

According to the Woodland Trust site "Early flowering, blackthorn provides a valuable source of nectar and pollen for bees in spring. Its foliage is a food plant for the caterpillars of many moths, including the lackey, magpie, common emerald, small eggar, swallow-tailed and yellow-tailed. It is also used by the black and brown hairstreak butterflies.
Birds nest among the dense, thorny thickets, eat caterpillars and other insects from the leaves, and feast on the berries in autumn."
I also found some really beautiful photos of it on this blog

Thanks to lizellen for hosting this month. Other entries can be found here.
