The beginning of our grand tour of Paris was upon us. My mother had never visited the city before and I was determined to show her all the attractions and a few of my personal favourite haunts.
We started in the Pompidou Centre where we saw a scintillating exhibition by Gerhard Richter, we then progressed through the winding streets to Notre Dame.
It was in the small, antiquarian bookshop, Shakespeare and Company, that I took todays photograph. I'm not entirely sure what to say about it other than that it touched me in some way, reminding me of times when I was small and spent time with my mother as I was doing in Paris at that very moment.
