Upper Rangitata Valley from Forest Creek Station

It's been a dreary day in the Forest, but with my parents visiting this afternoon we decided to head up the gorge to take a punt on the sunshine up country.

We needn't haven't worried. Once again the lands beyond the Waikari hills were bathed in glorious early autumn sunshine. Perfect for a jaunt up to Mesopotamia, the Te Araroa trail head and Dr Sinclair's Grave at the barren Mesopotamia cemetery.

This is the view from the hill above Forest Creek Station (you can see the yards off to the left in the middle ground), looking up towards the prominent triangular Cloudy Peak and Erewhon in the distance.
