Dozing Wigeon

On Crantit Ponds. Most wigeon will be leaving Orkney soon, but some will stay and breed. I cycled along to Scapa Bay and did a beached birds survey along part of the shore. There were a couple of great northern divers on the water and lots of eider and long-tailed duck. Five Slavonian grebe too and the males were in their fancy summer plumage.
