Afternoon at the river
We had friends come out today - their wives have left them for the weekend to go to Cape Town for the two oceans run (choice of half marathon, full marathon or ultra marathon, they were both doing the half). After the race the wives were clearly going to enjoy time away from their families - I gave my whole-hearted approval of their weekend.
Anyway, the men, babysitting for the weekend, came to us for some easy entertainment - an afternoon spent lazing by the river followed by a braai up at Great Zim. An Easter Egg hunt is planned for the morning, by all accounts, the wives would be most disappointed with the lack of effort put in by the men. We didn't do Easter egg hunts when we were kids, but it's a huge thing here, with rabbit foot prints leading up to the eggs and all kinds of things.
We had a brilliant afternoon - and evening. We all piled into a couple of cars, saw plenty of game as we drove up to the river and watched the children all have such fun messing about fishing and swimming. Alex was in seventh heaven having water and sand all in one place.
The plan was for everyone to sleep out, I claimed pregnancy and a slightly poorly baby, so was immediately ruled out. My husband fared a little better, but at about midnight retired to a proper bed, claiming that the mosquito's were annoying him.
