Last trip into Bulawayo

We weren't exactly sure if we needed to go into town today - until we realised that we are running out of nappies and a few other somewhat essential items.  Nappies were put right to the top of the list as we're back teething again and all that goes with that.

We felt duty bound to have lunch at Midi's, having spent so much time there in the past 10 months, although we've found a couple of better (and cheaper places) to lunch of late.  After lunch we stopped off to see our friends in town, who took Alex for a swim in their pool to cool off, he thanked them by disgracing himself in the pool and then on the side of the pool - hence the nappy shopping.  Thankfully, our friends have three children and this clearly isn't a new occurrence.  Phew.

Rather than traipse across town, we went to their local shop, which is always so quiet, it's my favourite supermarket in town, clean and well stocked - there were five members of staff at the check-out (the only one open) helping me pack the single plastic bag of shopping I had, and the fruit and veg man came over (he wasn't busy) to commend my husband who had taken the boy off for a tail-gate nappy change.
