Winged fool

The fountain, of which this foolish winged beast forms part, is in Albert Square, Manchester, where it was erected in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Nearby is the statue of Prince Albert, which was erected in 1862-7. It was cleaned in the 1970s, after some City Councillors had asked for it to be demolished.
