Hi-ho, hi-ho

..... its off to music lessons we go.....

By 11am, we'd done 3 hours of music practise and lessons. She's had an absolute ball. She's very very much enjoyed her holiday lessons. It's been wonderful seeing her have a lot of fun with B, but working extremely hard too. She's learnt so much in the last two weeks. It's been brilliant. We are going to be splitting her lessons though as B has decided she can't do enough in the time that Katie can concentrate for. She wants to be able to take her further with both instruments, but isn't able to as she's having to make sure they fit recorder, piano, theory and clarinet into around an hour so they're going to have two lessons a week, which will probably be 45 minutes each. It's fabulous when I think that a year ago B said "she will only cope with 20 minutes for a very long time". Katie quickly proved her wrong,  it was soon 40 minutes. Then once clarinet started, it was an hour every single lesson. This week she had soo much that she wanted to show B as she's worked on a whole heap of new things.

After music, we went to put together a care parcel we were sending to friends who've just moved. Katie loved doing it. We posted it and went to the library. I don't get a lot of chance to take her during the term, I choose books for her when she's at school so she really enjoyed going through the shelves herself.

We watched Toy Story 3 together when we got in. I snoozed for half an hour but she poked me every ten minutes as she didn't seem to think this was acceptable! Our day ended with a 45 minute very happy time learning some new recorder and piano pieces before a story time with a new book we picked up in the charity shop. A gentle but really calm and happy day.
